Healthcare
The body is the career.
What this is, and what it is not
What Aegis does not do
- Aegis does not provide medical care, diagnosis or treatment.
- Aegis does not give medical advice or second opinions.
- Aegis does not choose an athlete's clinicians for them.
- Aegis does not stand between an athlete and their doctor.
What Aegis does
- Aegis coordinates the independent licensed professionals an athlete's health requires, and keeps them working from the same picture.
- Aegis holds the record of what has been decided, by whom, and when — so the next decision starts from the whole history rather than the last appointment.
- Aegis makes sure the medical picture is in the room when a contract, a schedule or a business decision is being made, because those decisions move the body too.
Where the gaps are
These are the moments when an athlete's health and the rest of their life stop being separate problems, and when having one group that sees both matters most.
- 01
Injury and recovery
An injury is a medical event and a contractual one on the same day. Aegis keeps the clinicians, the representation and the family working from one timeline instead of three, and makes sure the athlete is choosing between real options rather than the first one offered.
- 02
Continuity of care
Athletes change teams, cities and clinicians often, and the record rarely travels with them. Aegis keeps continuity across those moves, so a new clinician starts from the whole history rather than from scratch.
- 03
Mental health
The hardest part is usually access and privacy, not willingness. Aegis arranges access to independent licensed mental-health professionals, on the athlete's terms, and holds the confidence that comes with it.
- 04
Performance and longevity
Strength, nutrition, sleep and load are managed by qualified professionals, not by us. What Aegis does is make sure they are not working against the season, the travel and the commitments that the rest of the plan has committed to.
- 05
Family health
A career is a household, not an individual. Coverage, access and continuity for the people around the athlete are part of the same plan, and they are usually the part nobody is organised around.
- 06
Life after competition
Coverage, continuity and the long-term effects of a playing career outlast the career. Aegis plans for that while there is still leverage and time to plan with.
How it works
Understand
We start with the picture the athlete and their family already have, and what they are worried about. No records are requested at this stage, and none should be sent through this website.
Coordinate
Where a decision calls for a professional the athlete does not yet have, Aegis introduces independent licensed practitioners and coordinates them. The athlete chooses. The relationship is theirs.
Hold the arc
Aegis keeps the plan current as seasons, teams and circumstances change, and makes sure health is represented when decisions elsewhere would affect it.
Every decision answers one question:
Is this in the athlete's best interest?
If the answer is no, it doesn't belong inside Aegis.
